The Bartender possesses foundational skills yet continuously seeks market trends and understands how guest needs evolve. This role is not merely about enthusiasm for beverages—it is about being the bar host. The Bartender steps beyond the bar to personally assume responsibility for guests’ direct experience. Using knowledge and effort, the Bartender achieves excellence in both appearance and function of the bar. The Bartender builds relationships with colleagues across the hotel and within the local community. The Bartender must demonstrate passion for every guest’s experience—with attention to detail: money handled, information provided to guests, and pride in beverage quality. In any position, certain fundamentals are essential for success—for example, maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to company policies and procedures, respecting confidentiality, protecting company assets, upholding quality standards, and ensuring professional appearance, attire, and communication at all times. Guest Service Specialists are constantly on the move—standing, sitting, walking extensively—and performing various tasks (moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and placing objects weighing 25 pounds or less without assistance; reaching upward, kneeling, twisting, stretching, and bending). It is essential that Guest Service Specialists perform their best work (and other reasonable tasks requested) to ensure guest stay success and business success.
