Reporting to the **Project Lead**, the **Translator** will provide specialized linguistic support to Teck’s Projects and Studies teams through high-quality technical translation and interpretation services between English and Spanish. This role contributes to effective and accurate communication in large-scale initiatives, facilitating interaction among corporate, operational, and institutional teams both nationally and internationally. Santiago office, 5x2 shift schedule, with site visits as required. **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader—comply with and champion safety and environmental rules, regulations, critical controls, and procedures. * Act as a committed safety leader—comply with and promote all site safety, health, and environmental standards, procedures, and protocols. * Deliver accurate and professional simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish during meetings, workshops, training sessions, field briefings, and technical discussions. * Interpret complex technical, industrial, and mining terminology clearly and consistently, preserving meaning, intent, and tone. * Translate documents—including technical materials, project documentation, and presentations—and review and revise translated materials to ensure linguistic accuracy and contextual relevance. * Develop, maintain, and update terminology databases and translation tools—including artificial intelligence tools—to support bilingual teams. * Design and deliver language training and classes (English–Spanish and Spanish–English) aimed at strengthening the linguistic and communicative competencies of project teams. **Requirements** -------------- * Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish, both oral and written, with strong ability to operate effectively in technical, administrative, and corporate contexts. * Professional degree in Translation, Interpretation, or related disciplines, with experience in simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretation—ideally in corporate, industrial, or institutional settings. * More than 5 years of proven experience in simultaneous interpretation within technical, industrial, or mining environments. * Solid knowledge of technical, mining, and project-related vocabulary, with ability to rapidly acquire new terminology. * Professional degree in Translation, Interpretation, or related disciplines, with experience in simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretation—ideally in corporate, industrial, or institutional settings. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and ethical judgment. * Availability to undertake site visits as required. **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
