Teck holds an indirect 60% interest in the mine. Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the **Base Machine Specialist Mechanical/Motor Technician** will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnosis, and fault resolution on base machines and associated PRIMARY systems critical to equipment operation, applying high standards of safety and operational discipline through collaborative and integrated work across maintenance and operations. The position will be based at the Quebrada Blanca site, located in the Tarapacá Region at 4\.400 meters above sea level, operating on a 7x7 shift schedule. **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader, comply with and champion rules, regulations, critical controls, and safety and environmental procedures. * Perform maintenance, diagnosis, and fault resolution on the machine, applying high standards of safety and operational discipline through collaborative and integrated work across maintenance and operations. * Communicate equipment and maintenance requirements—both short- and long-term—to your supervisor. * Report incidents and hazards promptly. * Assist in investigations of reported events. * Perform duties in accordance with the company’s defined operational management standards. * Identify improvement opportunities in your processes and systems, and escalate them using QB2’s Continuous Improvement framework. * Implement risk management in executing plans and processes in which you participate. * Comply with HSEC risk identification and reporting procedures. Report all types of incidents via safety management systems. * Execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance program tasks * Ensure proper maintenance and extend the service life of Cummins and CAT engines. **Requirements** -------------- * Technical diploma (intermediate/senior level) in Mechanical Maintenance or related field. * Minimum 5 years of specific experience maintaining Electric Shovels 4100XPC; CAT MD6640 and MD6380 Drills; Epiroc D65 Drills; Letorneau 1850 Loaders; and Motor Technician certifications for Cummins and/or CAT. * Class B and D driver’s license (mandatory) * Class A4 driver’s license preferred (desirable) Demonstrated experience in: * Knowledge of main engine alignment on electric shovels * Maintenance and fault diagnosis of travel, rotation, and hoisting systems * Maintenance and fault diagnosis of hydraulic systems * Maintenance and fault diagnosis of lubrication systems * Knowledge of operating pressure in pneumatic and hydraulic systems * Maintenance and fault diagnosis of Caterpillar diesel engines * Use of CAT ET and Cummins INSITE diagnostic tools * Engine injector adjustment * Use of electronic diagnostic and calibration tools (ET) * Dynamic diagnostic testing * Root cause analysis of failures (desirable) * Powertrain alignment on drills **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
