Teck holds an indirect 60% stake in the mine. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation jointly hold an indirect 30% stake. **Job Description** ------------------------- Application Deadline: **May 11, 2026\.** Quebrada Blanca — Chile’s most important mining development project Reporting to the TMF Engineering Manager, the **Senior Engineering and QA Engineer** will be responsible for leading engineering disciplines as the client representative for Profile, Conceptual, Basic, Detailed, and/or Field Engineering development at tailings storage facilities, ensuring the quality, timeliness, and completeness of associated technical documentation for tailings storage facility engineering. The role will be performed at the Quebrada Blanca site on a **7x7 shift schedule\.** **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader; comply with and champion safety and environmental rules and procedures. * Report management results to the Corporate team. * Report emerging situations, unusual observations, or TARP exceedances to executive management. * Collaborate with the Execution and Technical Training teams to ensure personnel working at the tailings storage facility receive appropriate training, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and competencies to perform their duties. * Implement rockfall risk management in the tailings storage facility area. * Manipulate/analyze data using spreadsheets and databases, and apply automation techniques such as macros, VBA, etc. * Develop, monitor, and report on operational metrics, change management, scheduling, and action plans. * Lead and coordinate risk assessments and subsequent development of risk management plans when required, incorporating multidisciplinary considerations. * Conduct routine field inspections and assist other engineers in resolving geotechnical instrumentation issues. * Communicate effectively with operational, geological, technical, environmental, safety, and social teams, as well as contractors, and liaise with external agencies to achieve overall operational objectives. * Plan slope stability management activities in coordination with Geology and Geotechnics department heads. * Ensure control of program timelines using geotechnical parameters defined in the pit design, combined with blasting parameters (Condition Factor and Design Factor). * Ensure timely submission of daily geotechnical reports, weekly mine monitoring reports, weekly geotechnical condition maps, and technical notes. * Ensure timely and high-quality generation of periodic reports to the organization. * Guarantee continuous maintenance and operation of robotic stations, radar systems, inclinometers, extensometers, TDRs, and other instruments. * Manage monitoring platform controls (radar, total stations) and geotechnical borehole controls (inclinometers, TDRs, piezometers) **Requirements** -------------- * Professional degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction, or related field. * Postgraduate qualification in risk management and/or project management. * Postgraduate qualification or diplomas in Geotechnics and/or Soil Mechanics. * Minimum 10 years of general work experience. * At least 6 years of experience in engineering for large tailings storage facilities (planning, control, monitoring, cost and schedule planning, medium- and long-term strategic planning). * Knowledge of Tailings Dam Engineering. * Experience managing geotechnical, hydraulic, and seismic design criteria applicable to tailings. * Experience in engineering QA/QC and review of technical deliverables. * Knowledge of technical risk management and change control. * Familiarity with industry tailings standards and best practices (e.g., GISTM). * Experience in document management and technical traceability. * Monitoring and control of compliance with findings raised by EOR and/or TIRB. * National and international technical regulations: Sernageomin DS 248, DGA DS 50, among others, and international GTS. * Class B driver’s license and internal mine driving authorization. * Availability to work regular 7x7 shifts at the Quebrada Blanca site. **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
