Recognized globally as the benchmark for quality and integrity, SGS employs over 95,000 people and operates a network of more than 2,400 offices and laboratories worldwide. **Job Description** We are seeking a Chemist A responsible for: **Key Responsibilities:** * Apply approved analytical methodologies * Ensure analytical results fall within expected ranges for accuracy, precision, etc. * Responsible for complying with quality assurance requirements * Responsible for complying with risk management and environmental management requirements, integrating them into daily work routines * Responsible for maintaining and using standards within established timeframes * Responsible for operating and maintaining EAA, LECO, AUTOMATIC TITRATORS, and DILUTORS equipment * Ensure correct execution of assigned analytical methods or determinations, including performing verification calculations, safeguarding results and materials under one’s responsibility, and recording data within established timeframes * Procure, ensure availability of, or prepare necessary materials, equipment, and/or accessories for laboratory analyses, handling chemical reagents and controlling their quality prior to use * Report deviations and/or take action to eliminate contingencies affecting one’s own activities or those of the team to which one belongs * Perform tests with quality, safety, and environmental care, meeting workload requirements within established timeframes * Ensure and comply with all activities related to sample handling, preparation of reagents and standards, as well as result integrity according to current procedures * Participate in problem resolution—from contributing to fact-finding investigations to proposing solutions and preventing recurrence of failures * Protect the integrity of assigned test items by ensuring traceability and accurate, orderly, and complete documentation of activities in designated records * Ensure compliance with all established hygiene and safety measures, and properly use assigned PPE and work clothing, prioritizing self-care and care for colleagues, while identifying and reporting risks and hazards * Validate and/or report analytical results upon request from supervisor or direct manager * Strictly comply with established laboratory safety regulations, with emphasis on proper handling of glassware, handling of hazardous substances, and correct storage and disposal of HAZARDOUS WASTES. **Requirements** * Formal Education: Chemical Engineer, Bachelor of Chemistry, Laboratory Chemist, Chemical Analyst, or related degree * Experience: Minimum 3 years overall, including at least 2 years in mineral laboratories and hydrometallurgical plants * Minimum Required Competencies: * Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practices; knowledge of Quality Standards and analytical techniques/methodologies for minerals * Experience in Atomic Absorption, LECO, AUTOMATIC TITRATORS, and DILUTORS (mandatory) * Preferred residence in Calama, Antofagasta, Arica, or Iquique * Availability to work rotating 7x7 day and night shifts **We Offer** * Professional Development Plan * Birth and Christmas gifts for employees’ children * Life insurance effective from date of joining the organization * Special leave entitlements * Benefits through Caja Los Andes and associated agreements * Ongoing training
