In this role, you will collaborate with our clients to enhance positive social outcomes and minimize negative impacts, creating shared value for their projects and host communities. The ideal candidate will have relevant knowledge and experience in engagement with Indigenous Peoples and communities, social management plans, socioeconomic impact assessments, and compliance with national regulations and international standards such as those of the IFC and the Equator Principles. Additionally, the candidate must possess excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as cultural sensitivity to work across multiple jurisdictions. This position is based at our Santiago, Chile office and will require fieldwork and travel as needed by our clients. About the Role This position reports to the Global Social Performance Director and works closely with Chile and South America’s Environmental Team. You will: * Collect and analyze environmental and social data to prepare management plans that mitigate and maximize project-related impacts. * Conduct a broad range of engagement activities with Indigenous rights-holders and stakeholders, including developing and implementing community and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans. * Support social due diligence in accordance with national regulations and recognized international standards, such as the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles. * Design and implement socioeconomic development programs, community consultation plans, and grievance management systems to effectively address community concerns. * Serve as a technical specialist in socioeconomic and cumulative impact assessments, as well as social management and monitoring plans. * Support the design and implementation of customized local employment, procurement, and social investment plans as part of our Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) contracts to ensure our clients’ projects contribute to significant and measurable economic benefits. * Design collaborative and sustainable social innovation solutions aligned with the client’s corporate values and strategies. * Develop and implement social governance systems—such as policies, scorecards, audits, and assessment and monitoring tools—to ensure social outcomes are transparent, measurable, and continuously improving. * Support other internal teams in integrating sustainability, performance, and climate change considerations by incorporating social expertise into integrated analyses. * Participate in business development opportunities in Chile and South America and proposal development. * Train and mentor junior staff within the Social Performance team as required. About You * Degree in social sciences, environmental assessment, natural resource management, Indigenous studies, economic development, or a related field. * More than 5 years of experience in Indigenous and stakeholder engagement, particularly as part of socio-environmental assessments under the processes of Chile’s Environmental Assessment Service (SEA). * Strong understanding of local and Indigenous community structures, protocols, governance, and priorities. * Demonstrated familiarity and experience with citizen and Indigenous participation processes under ILO Convention No. 169 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. * Relevant experience in social due diligence, human rights due diligence, and application of voluntary sustainability standards, such as those of the IFC, Equator Principles, ICMM, TSM MAC, IRMA, The Copper Mark, or similar. * Experience facilitating meetings and/or engagement activities with diverse audiences. * Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. * Excellent research, analytical, and technical writing skills. * Experience working with Indigenous Peoples and local communities around mining operations. * Experience working in multicultural environments and across multiple jurisdictions is advantageous. * Proficiency in English is an asset. * Willingness to travel as required.
