Lead safety initiatives and comply with environmental regulations. **Location:** Pica, Tarapacá, Chile **Employment Type:** Regular full-time **Work Location:** On\-site About **Quebrada Blanca** Quebrada Blanca (QB) is located in the Tarapacá Region in northern Chile, at an altitude of 4\.400 meters, approximately 240 kilometers southeast of the city of Iquique and 1\.500 kilometers from Santiago. Teck holds an indirect 60% interest in the mine. Reporting to the Tailings Maintenance Supervisor, the **Tailings Mechanical Technician III** will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities associated with the tailings dam, ensuring their operational reliability, safety, and compliance with environmental standards. This position is based at the Quebrada Blanca site, located in the Tarapacá Region at 4\.400 meters above sea level, operating on a 7x7 shift system. **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader; comply with and champion safety and environmental rules, regulations, critical controls, and procedures. * Diagnose mechanical failures in tailings handling systems using measurement and analysis tools such as pressure gauges and calipers. * Maintain auxiliary tailings dam systems, including pumping stations, drainage systems, and discharge pipelines. * Collaborate in the planning and execution of maintenance activities to ensure operational continuity of the tailings dam and minimize environmental risks. * Manage administrative shift information (e.g., work order closures). **Requirements** -------------- * Technical diploma or university degree in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering. * Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in maintenance of mining concentrator plants or tailings dams. * Class B driver’s license (mandatory) * 6G welding certification (desirable) * Availability to work regular 7x7 shifts at the Quebrada Blanca site. * Knowledge of welding processes for piping and associated systems. * Familiarity with operation and maintenance of auxiliary tailings dam systems, such as pumping stations and drainage systems. * Experience diagnosing common mechanical component failures, such as leaks, excessive wear, and pipe blockages. * Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals to perform maintenance tasks accurately. * Understanding of the concentrator process logic (crushing, grinding, flotation, molybdenum, and tailings dam). **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
