Hatch Chile’s Tailings Practice is seeking to hire a Senior Hydro-Technical Engineer to work at our Santiago office.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Provide technical support for water management tasks, including: baseline hydrology, water balance studies, water management plans, hydraulic modeling and design, dam breach and flood inundation studies, sediment and erosion control plans, support for mine water operations, closure water management, construction water management support, and fieldwork.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated tailings, mining waste, and mine water management solutions; tailings dewatering process technologies; transport and final deposition modeling studies; surface water management; dam breach analysis; and flood channeling to evaluate and size channels/pipes.
* Provide guidance to junior engineers, designers, and technicians, and maintain work quality throughout a project.
* Participate in health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines during execution of all work.
* Prepare technical documentation, including calculation memos, reports, technical specifications, and design basis memoranda; review and coordinate with civil designers; and assist in preparing engineering drawings.
* Business development and marketing for existing and new Hatch clients in the mining sector, as well as support in preparing technical proposals.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with 20 years of total experience and a minimum of 8 years of specific experience as a lead hydraulic discipline engineer for tailings storage facilities;
* Experience in hydrological analysis, site water balance studies, tailings transport, hydraulic design of water transport and storage facilities, dam breach and flood inundation studies;
* Preferred experience with software packages such as GoldSim, PCSWMM, FLO\-2D, HEC\-HMS, HEC\-RAS, CulvertMaster, AutoCAD, and GIS;
* Prior exposure to construction, fieldwork, and environmental permitting support is advantageous;
* Bilingual proficiency (English) preferred;
* Ability to work effectively and seamlessly within an international team with a strong client focus;
* High proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
