Kinross’s La Coipa mine is located in the Atacama Region in northern Chile, approximately 1,000 kilometers north of Santiago and 140 kilometers northeast of Copiapó. La Coipa poured its first gold bar in March 2022 after resuming operations following suspension in 2013. Kinross is conducting an exploration program to potentially extend the mine’s life.

Job Description
Supervise and execute the doré metal smelting and refining process in the Refinery area, in accordance with operational planning and guidelines defined by the Shift Supervisor, ensuring compliance with production, quality, operational safety, and security standards. Responsible for safeguarding assets under custody, correctly applying the chain of custody, and directly supervising assigned personnel, ensuring strict adherence to procedures, corporate policies, and critical area controls.
Job Responsibilities
Supervise and execute the doré metal smelting and refining process, ensuring compliance with established technical, quality, and safety parameters.
Monitor compliance with technical standards set for smelting processes up to doré metal production.
Ensure no breaches occur in the chain of custody for the most enriched material.
Ensure complete and accurate recording of inputs and outputs of in-process and finished products, and that such products are physically secured against unauthorized handling.
Ensure required consumables are available to maintain uninterrupted smelting operations.
Maintain inventory records and consumables usage statistics to support cost calculation and supply planning.
Implement the prescribed preventive maintenance program.
Report and coordinate required corrective maintenance actions.
Coordinate relations with maintenance contractors.
Approve or reject maintenance services performed by contractors or other company units.
Education and Experience
Degree: Higher Technical Diploma in Metallurgy
Experience: 2 years in this position
Experience and knowledge in smelting and gold extraction.
Other specialized knowledge: Sedimentation, smelting, and refining
