**Position: Audit Accountant**
**Position Overview**
The Audit Accountant is a highly specialized finance professional responsible for preparing, presenting, and validating financial and economic information for an organization. This role goes beyond basic accounting, requiring a solid ethical foundation to examine financial records, evaluate internal controls, and provide an independent, expert opinion on the reliability of financial statements. The professional acts as an objective and critical evaluator who can identify risks and propose improvements to organizational processes.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Auditing \& Assurance**
* **Financial Verification:** Performs substantive procedures to ensure the validity of client transactions, reviewing bank reconciliations, fixed asset registers, and subsidiary ledgers to identify unusual items or movements.
* **Risk \& Controls Evaluation:** Identifies inefficiencies, control deficiencies, and risks in financial and operational processes. Recommends controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
* **Compliance \& Reporting:** Reviews financial statements and tax returns for compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and applicable local regulations. Prepares audit reports summarizing findings, observations, and recommendations.
* **Financial Statement Preparation:** Prepares basic financial statements and related footnotes, and participates in the preparation of engagement planning materials and risk analyses.
* **Specialized Audits:** May be involved in specialized areas such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting, systems audits (reviewing IT security), and income tax calculations.
**Accounting \& Analysis**
* **General Ledger Management:** Manages daily booking of journal entries, reconciles general ledger accounts to subsidiary ledgers, and resolves discrepancies.
* **Data Analysis:** Collects, filters, and analyzes client data using financial analysis tools to present findings on account movements and correlations.
**Client \& Team Management**
* **Liaison \& Communication:** Acts as a primary liaison between engagement partners, managers, and client management to ensure open communication and resolve issues.
* **Supervision:** Supervises and mentors teams of experienced and new staff, directing their work and reviewing their accuracy.
* **Presentation:** Prepares presentation materials for discussions with management during the planning and conclusion phases of the audit.
**Key Requirements \& Qualifications**
**Education \& Certification**
* A **Bachelor's degree in Accounting** or a related field is typically required.
* A **Certified Public Accountant (CPA)** license is highly encouraged, and candidates are often expected to be actively pursuing this certification. Some employers may require completion of 150 semester hours of college coursework (often a 5\-year combined bachelor's and master's degree) to meet licensing requirements.
**Experience**
* **Entry\-Level:** 0\-2 years of experience (for Staff Auditor roles).
* **Senior Level:** 2\+ years of experience in public or private accounting and auditing (for Senior or ESG\-focused roles).
**Technical Skills**
* **English Language:** Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English is required, particularly for roles in international firms or with English\-speaking clients.
* **Accounting Software:** Knowledge of financial accounting applications such as **Oracle, SAP, and QuickBooks** is a plus.
* **Regulatory Knowledge:** In\-depth knowledge of **IFRS** (International Financial Reporting Standards) and local tax regulations is essential.
