Maintain effective working relationships with citizens and coworkers **Public Services Department** **Public Works – Solid Waste Division** **Truck Driver (Master Equipment Operator)** **Starting Salary: $36,427\.60** **General Duties and Responsibilities:** Performs semi\-skilled and skilled work in operating garbage trucks, including automated garbage collection trucks, rear loader garbage collection trucks, other large trucks, and performing a variety of manual work related to the transportation of refuse, including manual loading of trash as needed. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** Must have ability to operate large trucks safely; knowledge of traffic laws, general maintenance, and hazards associated with operating motorized equipment; ability to perform manual work (collecting refuse) in varying weather conditions; have the ability to work independently and adhere to garbage collection routes and schedules; have the ability to understand and interpret simple oral and written instructions and have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with citizens and coworkers. **Requirements:** Completion of high school or GED and a minimum of two years of experience in the operation of heavy trucks required.
