Opportunity for professional development **Public Works Department** **Building Maintenance Division** **Maintenance Mechanic** **Starting Salary: $36,427\.60 (DOQ)** **General Duties and Responsibilities:** Perform semi\-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Duties include carpentry, plumbing repairs and maintenance, electrical and HVAC, welding, and cleaning/maintaining tools and equipment. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** Must have considerable knowledge of methods and materials used in building maintenance; ability to operate power equipment and hand tools effectively; ability to understand and interpret simple oral and written instructions; and ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers. **Requirements:** Completion of high school or GED and experience in carpentry and plumbing highly preferred. Applicants with at least 5 years experience in various types of building maintenance will be given preference. Valid NC Driver’s License required. HVAC experience a plus. Must have physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and to perform heavy physical work, including reaching overhead, twisting, climbing, kneeling, and squatting in a variety of weather conditions. **Normal work hours:** 7:30 \- 4:00, Monday \- Friday. **Benefits:** 12 Holidays; 10 Vacation Days; 12 Sick Days; 8 hrs.
