At AES, we are seeking **a Senior Substation Operator.**
We are looking for professionals with experience in electric power transmission and distribution to join our team in the Antofagasta Region.
This position is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of substations under your responsibility, coordinating switching operations, inspections, and other operational activities in accordance with Control Center instructions, corporate procedures, and applicable regulations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing substation operational activities, including:
* Executing and coordinating the operation of one or more substations, directing and/or performing switching operations and inspections per dispatcher instructions.
* Supervising work and operations conducted on-site, ensuring service quality, continuity, and availability.
* Coordinating substation operations and associated logistics, leading internal staff and contractors as required.
* Conducting periodic inspections of substation yards, electrical rooms, control systems, and associated equipment.
* Verifying proper operation of equipment, monitoring systems, instruments, protection devices, and communications.
* Performing operational switching maneuvers in compliance with authorized procedures and applicable regulations.
* Promptly reporting risk conditions, anomalies, or situations that may affect operations.
* Coordinating actions aimed at safeguarding personnel, facilities, and assets.
* Participating in failure analysis, preparing technical reports, and proposing operational improvements for facilities.
* Ensuring compliance with the company’s established safety, quality, and environmental standards.
**Position Requirements:**
* **Education:** Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in Electricity, Electrician, Instrumentation, Electromechanics, or a related field with an electrical or electronic foundation (mandatory).
* **Experience:** Minimum 5 years of experience in the electrical field.
* **Valid Class B Driver’s License** (mandatory).
* **Microsoft Office** at intermediate level.
* Knowledge of the Interconnected System and the electric power sector’s regulatory framework.
* Familiarity with SAP and software associated with substation equipment (desirable).
* Familiarity with automation and SCADA systems (desirable).
* Knowledge of protection, control, and communication equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret alarms, schematics, and control systems.
* High-altitude driving and first-aid training (desirable).
