Achieving **$1 billion** in revenue is a challenge we are confident we can meet together—through **collaboration** and the **talent** of our people—writing yet another success story as one team.
**What are we looking for?**
We seek a **Senior Backend Developer Java** to join a technology cell focused on the **modernization and migration of legacy services to a microservices architecture on OpenShift**.
The main challenge will be understanding existing backend solutions—including their business logic and integrations—and actively participating in their transformation into new, modern, scalable, and maintainable services.
We seek a **senior, hands-on profile**, with high technical autonomy and concrete experience in backend migration projects. This position will involve interaction with architects, internal teams, and other vendors; therefore, the ability to understand existing technical specifications, gather information, and accurately translate it into implementation is required.
This role has a strong development and technical problem-solving component. **It is not a Tech Lead or Architect role, nor does it include people management responsibilities.**
Main Responsibilities
* Analyze and understand legacy solution code, integrations, and business logic.
* Participate in technical knowledge transfer processes from other teams or vendors.
* Develop and refactor backend components for migration to microservices architectures.
* Design and develop robust, decoupled, scalable, and maintainable microservices using Java.
* Implement REST APIs and integrations with core systems and various consumer channels.
* Collaborate with the architecture team on technical definitions and solution design.
* Deploy and operate containerized applications on **OpenShift**.
* Implement configurations related to service scaling, availability, and resilience.
* Apply **observability and traceability practices**, using logs, metrics, monitoring, and tracing to facilitate diagnosis of distributed applications.
* Analyze and resolve technical issues related to service performance and integration.
* Apply best practices in development, testing, maintainability, and code quality.
Mandatory Requirements
* Solid experience as a **Senior Backend Developer with Java**.
* Advanced and recent experience working with **Java, Spring Boot and/or Quarkus**.
* Experience developing solutions based on **microservices**.
* Proven experience participating in **backend migration or modernization projects**, transforming legacy components or applications into modern solutions.
* Practical experience working with **OpenShift**.
* Experience with containers and knowledge of **application deployment, configuration, and scaling**.
* Experience developing and designing **REST APIs** and system-to-system integrations.
* Knowledge of **observability and traceability** in distributed applications, including monitoring, logs, and metrics.
* Ability to analyze existing code and solutions, understand their business logic, and translate it into new components or services.
* Experience working with complex enterprise systems and integrations across multiple systems.
* Technical autonomy to tackle complex development tasks, diagnose problems, and propose alternative solutions.
Desirable Skills
* Experience with **Java 21 LTS**.
* Experience or knowledge of **Oracle Service Bus (OSB)**.
* Knowledge of **WebLogic, XQuery, XSLT, and SOAP services**.
* Experience with **Kafka** or other messaging technologies.
* Knowledge of Kubernetes.
* Experience with tools such as **Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry, or equivalents**.
* Understanding of integration and resilience patterns in microservices architectures.
* Experience with **CI/CD pipelines**.
* Knowledge of **TM Forum / Open APIs standards**.
* Experience in high-transaction environments.
Important Note
Experience with **Oracle Service Bus (OSB)** is desirable but not mandatory.
For this position, it is essential to have a solid foundation in **Java Backend, microservices, OpenShift, and technology migration or modernization projects**.
We seek a candidate with sufficient experience to operate autonomously in a complex technical environment, understand existing solutions, and actively participate in their transformation—while maintaining a primarily **hands-on backend development role**.
Position Conditions
* Fixed-term contract initially associated with a **9-month project**, with potential continuity in other Babel Global/LATAM clients or projects.
* Full-time schedule of **40 hours per week**.
* Hybrid modality: 3 days on-site and 2 remote (Santiago).
* Health insurance upon transition to indefinite contract.
* Year-end and national holiday bonuses.
* Access to Udemy courses and co-payment benefit for certifications.
