Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen tools and equipment and machinery room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all main service disconnect switches for buildings. Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed. Demonstrate basic knowledge or aptitude to acquire knowledge in the following areas: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building operations. Prepare and paint surfaces; perform minor drywall and woodwork repairs; replace light bulbs and air conditioner filters; and thoroughly clean the painting or repair area. Test, diagnose faults, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), and electrical components—including lamps, cosmetic fixtures, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, and other guestroom items. Program televisions and perform general engineering-related maintenance and inventory tasks. Use the lockout/tagout system before performing maintenance work. Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping, as well as exterior irrigation systems. Demonstrate basic computer operation skills, including entering air regulation system schedules and adjusting temperature settings. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure both uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain property information confidentiality; and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate guest service needs and fulfill them; assist guests with disabilities; and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others; support the team in achieving common goals; and listen to and appropriately respond to other employees’ concerns. Communicate with others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform movement-intensive tasks without assistance. Climb stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above head height and below knee level, including bending, twisting the waist, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. DESIRABLE SKILLS Education: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or vocational/technical training certificate preferred. Relevant work experience: Experience in general maintenance, preparation of interior and exterior surfaces, and painting. Hotel engineering/maintenance experience is a plus.
