Leadership of mechanical crews and compliance with mining safety regulations ### **Chuquicamata Concentrator Plant – GEL Project** **Company:** SIGMA S.A. **Workplace:** Chuquicamata Concentrator Plant – GEL **Project Duration:** 3 to 4 months **Work Schedule:** To be defined according to project requirements **Contract Type:** Fixed-term project contract for 4 months **Department:** Mechanical Maintenance – Pumping Systems ### **Position Description** SIGMA S.A. is seeking a **Mechanical Supervisor – Pump Specialist** for a short-term project at the **Chuquicamata Concentrator Plant (GEL)**. The position is responsible for supervising and coordinating mechanical maintenance activities on **slurry and industrial water pumping systems**, ensuring operational continuity, equipment reliability, and compliance with the client’s safety standards. ### **Main Responsibilities** * Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of **slurry and process pumps** at the concentrator plant. * Coordinate work on horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps (slurry, recirculation, tailings). * Lead mechanical crews in the field. * Diagnose and analyze failures related to **abrasive wear, cavitation, vibrations, and mechanical seals**. * Ensure compliance with **Codelco mining safety procedures**, LOTO, and AST/ART. * Coordinate activities with Operations and other specialized departments. * Report service progress and deviations. ### **Mandatory Requirements** * Technical or professional degree in **Mechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field**. * **Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor – Pump Specialist at a mining concentrator plant**. * Direct experience with **slurry pumps**. * Applied knowledge of **basic hydraulics, pump curves, cavitation, and abrasive wear**. * Experience working in mining operations and operational plants. * Medical fitness suitable for work at high geographic altitude. * **Desirable Requirements** * Prior experience at **Chuquicamata** or Codelco mining sites. * Valid certifications for LOTO, working at heights, and confined spaces. * Team leadership experience under mining contracts.
