Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the **Base Machine Mechanical Specialist Technician** will be responsible for performing maintenance/diagnostics/troubleshooting of base machinery and associated PRIMARY systems required for equipment operation, applying high safety standards and operational discipline through collaborative and integrated work within the maintenance and operations area. This position will be based at the Quebrada Blanca site, located in the Tarapacá Region at 4\.400 meters above sea level, operating on a 7x7 shift system. **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader, complying with and championing rules, regulations, critical controls, and safety and environmental procedures. * Perform maintenance/diagnostics/troubleshooting of machinery applying high safety standards and operational discipline through collaborative and integrated work within the maintenance and operations area. * Communicate equipment and maintenance requirements—both short- and long-term—to your supervisor. * Report events and hazards promptly. * Assist in investigations of reported events. * Carry out duties in accordance with the company’s defined operational management standards. * Identify process and system improvement opportunities and escalate them using the QB2 Continuous Improvement framework. * Implement risk management in executing the plans and processes in which you participate. * Comply with HSEC risk identification and reporting procedures. Report all types of incidents via safety management systems. * Execution of tasks under scheduled and unscheduled maintenance programs **Requirements** -------------- * Intermediate/Senior Technical Degree in Mechanical Maintenance or related field. * Minimum 5 years of specific experience maintaining 4100XPC Electric Shovels; CAT MD6640 and MD6380 Drills; Epiroc D65 Drills. * Demonstrable experience in: * Maintenance and failure diagnostics of Hoist, Swing, Crowd, and Propel systems. * Adjustments and calibrations of Crowd, Hoist, Propel, and Swing systems. * Knowledge of alignment of main motors in electric shovels. * Maintenance and failure diagnostics of travel, rotation, and hoisting systems. * Maintenance and failure diagnostics of hydraulic systems. * Maintenance and failure diagnostics of lubrication systems. * Knowledge of operating pressure of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. * Maintenance and failure diagnostics of Caterpillar diesel engines. * Use of ET electronic diagnostic tools and calibrations. * Dynamic diagnostic testing. * Root cause analysis of failures (desirable). * Powertrain alignment of drills. * Class B driver’s license (mandatory). * Class D driver’s license (desirable). **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
