Job Summary: The Barista at Cafetería Kalamar is responsible for delivering a friendly and efficient experience by preparing and presenting coffee and beverages, and actively participating in customer service, cleaning, and daily operations. Job Objective** The Barista at Cafetería Kalamar will be responsible for delivering friendly, efficient, and high-quality customer service, ensuring the correct preparation and presentation of coffee, beverages, and café products. This role is comprehensive: in addition to beverage preparation, the incumbent must actively participate in customer service, table service, cleaning, restocking, organization, and the café’s daily operations, coordinating closely with the Manager and the rest of the team. We seek a responsible, proactive, organized, quick-thinking, and service-oriented individual. **2\. Main Functions and Responsibilities** **Coffee and Beverage Preparation** Prepare and serve hot and cold coffee and beverages according to Cafetería Kalamar’s recipes and standards. Prepare espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, and other offerings on the menu. Operate espresso machines, grinders, steam wands, and other café equipment correctly. Perform proper grinding, dosing, extraction, and coffee preparation. Steam and texture milk for various preparations. Prepare and serve tea, infusions, juices, and other available beverages. Maintain appropriate presentation of each product before delivery to the customer. **Customer Service and Attention** Greet and attend customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Take orders and deliver requested items accurately. Serve both at the counter and at tables as operational needs require. Perform waiter/waitress duties, including serving, clearing dishes, and setting tables. Remain attentive to customers’ additional needs during their visit. Resolve simple customer requests and promptly escalate more complex situations to the Manager. Actively contribute to creating a positive experience for every customer. **Order, Cleaning, and Hygiene** Maintain the counter, tables, service area, and workspaces clean and orderly at all times. Clean the espresso machine, steam wands, grinder, utensils, and all used equipment daily. Keep dishware, glassware, utensils, and work tools clean and properly stored. Clean and prepare tables to welcome new customers. Follow the café’s established food hygiene and handling procedures. Maintain a clean and appropriate personal appearance aligned with Cafetería Kalamar’s standards. **Restocking and Operations** Continuously monitor availability of coffee, milk, tea, food, beverages, and other supplies. Promptly inform the Manager about low-stock items or restocking needs. Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing merchandise. Store and organize products and supplies correctly. Collaborate in opening and closing procedures when required. Care for equipment, utensils, furniture, and other café assets. Prevent losses, waste, and improper use of products and supplies. **Teamwork** Follow instructions and requirements set forth by the Cafetería Kalamar Manager. Coordinate effectively with other team members. Support any operational needs that may arise during the shift. Maintain a collaborative attitude and effective internal communication. Perform other duties related to the café’s normal operations as required by management. **3\. Requirements and Knowledge** **Experience** Prior barista experience is desirable. Experience as a waiter/waitress or in cafés, restaurants, hotels, or other gastronomic establishments will be valued. Direct public-facing customer service experience. **Knowledge** Espresso-based coffee and beverage preparation. Operation of espresso machines and grinders. Basic milk steaming and texturing techniques. Tea and infusion preparation and service. Table service and customer attention. Food hygiene and handling. Basic cleaning and maintenance of café equipment. **Availability** Availability to work on a rotating shift schedule.
