Teck holds an indirect 60% stake in the mine. Reporting to the Tailings Dam Maintenance Supervisor, the **Tailings Dam Mechanical Technician II** will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities associated with the tailings dam, ensuring operational reliability, safety, and compliance with environmental standards. The position will be based at the Quebrada Blanca site, located in the Tarapacá Region at 4\.400 meters above sea level, operating on a 7x7 shift system. **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader, comply with and champion safety and environmental rules, regulations, critical controls, and procedures. * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical components within tailings dam systems and infrastructure, such as pipes, valves, and pumps. * Visually inspect facilities and equipment to identify potential signs of wear, leaks, or minor failures. * Perform basic disassembly, assembly, and component adjustment tasks, ensuring proper installation and adherence to standard procedures. * Comply with and understand safety regulations and procedures applicable to the tailings dam. **Requirements** -------------- * Technical diploma at secondary, higher, or university level in Mechanical Engineering. * Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance of mining concentrator plants or continuous process industries. * Class B driver’s license (mandatory) * Availability to work regular 7x7 shifts at the Quebrada Blanca site. * Knowledge of operation and maintenance of auxiliary systems associated with the tailings dam, such as pumping stations and drainage systems. * Experience diagnosing common mechanical component failures, including leaks, excessive wear, and pipe blockages. * Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals to perform maintenance tasks accurately. * Understanding of the concentrate process logic (crushing, grinding, flotation, molybdenum, and tailings dam). **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
