Thesis student for the Ring Project of the **University of Chile**, **Andrés Bello University**, and the startup **Remote Waters SpA.**
Remote Waters is a startup based in Santiago but operating across Latin America, with a mission to provide water purification systems for contaminated water, supplying clean and safe drinking water to communities lacking access.
**What We Are Looking For**
We seek to hire a candidate from Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related disciplines, with a focus on fluid dynamics, water treatment, and process and design orientation, for goal-oriented research conducted in a hybrid mode (remote work, office, and field visits), with flexible working hours.
The thesis student will conduct theoretical work (literature review) and practical work for modeling, assembly, and testing of an experimental desalination plant for producing water for green hydrogen generation. The final outcome of this project is a draft or publication of an academic article.
**Requirements:**
* **Student (NOT graduated)** pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related fields.
* Focus on fluid dynamics, water treatment, processes, and design.
* Availability to work in a hybrid mode (remote work, office, and field visits) with flexible hours.
* Interest in water and sustainability.
**Conditions:**
* **Start Date:** July or August 2026.
* **Duration:** Up to 10 months.
* **Compensation:** CLP 1,200,000 to CLP 2,000,000 gross for the entire period, subject to deliverable completion.
* **Location:** Chilean universities; remote work possible, with on-site interactions.
**Responsibilities:**
* Research physical filtration technologies using membranes, from reverse osmosis to microfiltration.
* Literature review on desalination brine from various sources and its potential applications.
* Practical experimentation with brine utilization cases and water reuse systems via filtration applicable to ports.
* Design innovative processes within the SHORE project framework (green hydrogen and port microgrids).
* Collaborate on technical-economic analysis of energy systems and hybrid solutions from economic, energy, and environmental perspectives.
* Produce original results for publication in scientific journals and draft the manuscript.
* Gain hands-on experience with Remote Waters in Santiago.
Ideal Knowledge:
* Modeling software proficiency, e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, ANSYS, AutoCAD.
* Advanced proficiency in Office tools.
* English for reading equipment manuals and contacting international suppliers.
Job Type: Temporary, Internship / Traineeship, Contract-based
Salary: CLP 200,000 per month
