Hatch Chile’s Tailings Practice is seeking to hire a Tailings Engineer to work at our Santiago office.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Provide technical support for integrated solutions for tailings management, mining waste, and water management, including site selection studies for tailings storage facilities, dewatering technologies (non-conventional tailings), comprehensive tailings storage facility design (embankments, drainage systems, lining systems, tailings deposition models, closure studies, etc.), associated infrastructure, and water management within tailings storage facilities, including surface and groundwater management.
* Prepare technical documentation, including calculation memos, reports, and design criteria, as well as review and coordinate the work of civil designers.
* Provide guidance to junior engineers, designers, and technicians, and maintain work quality throughout a project.
* Participate in health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines during the execution of all work.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering consulting, specifically in the design of tailings storage facilities and associated infrastructure.
* Experience in modeling tailings storage facility growth using Muk3D or similar software.
* Knowledge of local and international regulations and standards, such as the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM).
* Knowledge of construction methods and material selection for dam construction. Prior exposure to tailings storage facility construction and fieldwork is an advantage.
* Desirable knowledge in geotechnics and hydrology. Preferred experience with software packages such as GeoStudio.
* Desirable experience in leading work teams, discipline leadership, and/or engineering management.
* Bilingual competence (English) preferred.
* Ability to work effectively and seamlessly within an international team with a strong client focus.
* High proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
