**DESCRIPTION** --------------- Amazon Web Services is seeking to hire a highly motivated, top-tier Data Center Technician to join our growing Infrastructure Operations team and provide hands-on support for your Data Center location. The scope of work includes: Managing work and priorities through the ticketing system and coordinating with the Data Center Manager; troubleshooting and repairing servers experiencing hardware and network issues. The role involves hardware diagnostics and replacement of failed components. You must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and handle multiple priorities. The technician will be located in the Santiago state; however, remote support to other Data Centers in the region will also be required as needed. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of server, network equipment, and cabling incidents. Data Center Operations is a 24x7 team, and this position requires working non-business hours. Key job responsibilities * Work on and meet SLAs for assigned tickets through a defined workflow * First point of contact for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues * Perform routine server hardware repairs (disks, motherboards, etc.) * Perform routine repairs related to networking, server hardware, and operating systems * Regularly collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete routine tasks * Adhere to data center security best practices * Identify and help develop improved processes relevant to the data center environment * Perform server upgrades, rebuilds, and scheduled maintenance tasks as required * Interact with external vendors and contractors A day in the life This role is a unique opportunity to work in some of the world’s most advanced data centers. A Data Center Technician works as part of the Operations team, whose primary responsibility is maintaining and preserving data center infrastructure. The candidate may serve as the primary point of contact for both internal customers (e.g., Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Developers, Database Engineers, Technical Operations) and external customers (Hardware Vendors, Contractors, Service Providers, among others). That’s why you’ll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------------ * Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field * May be complemented by certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and JNCIA * Demonstrated experience in hardware troubleshooting and isolation testing on high-performance equipment * Demonstrated experience in Linux troubleshooting * Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP networking, cabling, types of optical fiber, and test equipment such as VFL, power meters, and OTDR \- 1 \- 3 years of mid-level and/or enterprise-level experience in a highly dynamic environment, including experience working with virtualized enterprise networks * Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies * Fluent Spanish and advanced English * May require local and/or international travel * This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift and install equipment weighing up to 18 kg; may require working in confined spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- * Ability to identify root causes of problems and inefficiencies in processes * Can automate tasks, modify small tools, and propose new POEs * Ability to execute or manage small-to-medium technical projects at the cluster level * Hands-on experience with server architecture-based systems * Experience with Linux or similar operating systems * Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting * Perform hardware troubleshooting and component replacement * Highly organized and capable of coordinating complex tasks with other team members * Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
