Checkr is looking for a **Senior Software Engineer** to help bring fair background checks to enterprise customers. Our work is the backbone for the employment of millions of workers across the country. Our team’s mission is to deliver the most accurate and comprehensive criminal background checks in the industry for customers worldwide. We are hiring for a team focused on unifying the experiences across all of Checkr’s screening products (both U.S. and international), delivering common platform capabilities to other teams across the company. The team will be split into **70% backend and 30% frontend** work. ### **Responsibilities:** * Build and evolve software with a focus on creating platform capabilities used by other teams in their work. * Produce high-quality code at scale to build scalable, efficient, and secure APIs. * Use frontend skills to build effective **React.js** components usable across Checkr. * Design and improve the system architecture of our platform powering Checkr’s *Screening* products. * Collaborate with Staff and Principal Engineers to influence and execute our technical designs. * Communicate effectively with engineers across Checkr who depend on the functionality you’re building — they’ll be your primary customers! * Write clear documentation on how to interact with the capabilities you build, applications, and software best practices. * Implement steps in the **CI/CD** pipeline and manage version control (**Git**). * **Mentor and guide** other developers within the Engineering organization. * Help identify and resolve complex bugs. ### **What You Bring:** * **Advanced English** (written and spoken. You’ll report to leadership based in the U.S., and the technical interview process is led by developers in San Francisco and Denver). * **6+ years** of full-stack software development experience. * Proficiency in the following languages and technologies: **Ruby, JavaScript (React.js), HTML, CSS, HTTP protocols, and Regex**. * **Availability to work hybrid 3x2 in Santiago (office located in Torre Gran Costanera).** **Must-Have Requirements:** * Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, such as relational databases, data structures and algorithms, **ORM** (Object Relational Mapping), and **REST APIs**. * Strong development practices using **TDD** (Test Driven Development), **DDD** (Domain Driven Design), and functional or object-oriented programming. **Nice-to-Have:** * Experience with non-relational databases (**MongoDB, Redis**). * Experience with microservices (and patterns such as *Event Sourcing* or *API Gateways*). * Experience with event-driven architectures (**Kafka, RabbitMQ or SQS**). * Experience with observability (**Datadog, Grafana or Splunk**). * Experience in **AI** (Artificial Intelligence). * A strong sense of **ownership**. * Ability to collaborate with teammates and other *stakeholders*. * Enthusiasm for learning, improving, innovating, and having fun. * An "**A-player**" mindset with strong action orientation: you raise the bar, move with urgency, maintain resilience amid ambiguity, and hold yourself accountable for delivering meaningful results. ### **Benefits** * **Indefinite-term contract.** * **Competitive salary in CLP.** * Opportunity to work for an international company headquartered in the U.S. * **Health, life, and dental insurance** for you and your family. * Annual **$3,000 USD** learning and development stipend. * Company stock (**RSUs**). * **5 additional vacation days** (5 extra PTO days). * **Lunch** on days you come to the office.
