Establishment of Data Engineering best practices **Job Description** ---------------------- Build and optimize robust data pipelines on GCP to enable analytics and ML across our three business units. 1. Design and implement scalable data pipelines on GCP: Develop data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration solutions using BigQuery, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub, applying serverless, stateless, and decoupled architecture principles to ensure performance and maintainability. 2. Serve as technical leader and bridge between business and technology: Translate business requirements into viable technical solutions, coordinating with data architecture teams to define designs, establish SLAs, and manage stakeholder expectations through clear and realistic communication. 3. Implement and optimize structured and unstructured data models: Design schemas in BigQuery, define partitioning/clustering strategies, and work with data lakes/lakehouses to ensure cost efficiency, query performance, and storage optimization according to use case. 4. Establish and evangelize Data Engineering best practices: Implement coding standards (testing, CI/CD), modern ELT design patterns (DBT), observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting), and data quality checks to elevate the team’s technical maturity. 5. Provide technical mentorship to the team and maintain robust documentation: Offer guidance during code reviews, solution architecture discussions, and complex troubleshooting; maintain up-to-date technical documentation in Confluence/Git covering pipelines, data lineage, and operational runbooks. **Candidate Requirements** -------------------------- * Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Industrial Engineering with Computing focus, or related field. * Experience with GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub). * Preferred: Role-related certifications. * English proficiency: Intermediate (spoken and written).
