Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen tools and equipment and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radios). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility disconnect switches for buildings. Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed. Communicate daily activities and issues to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate basic knowledge or aptitude to acquire knowledge in the following areas: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Prepare and paint surfaces; perform minor wallboard and woodwork repairs; replace light bulbs and air conditioner filters; and thoroughly clean the painting or repair area. Test, diagnose malfunctions, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches and outlets, and other guestroom items. Program televisions and perform general engineering-related maintenance and inventory tasks. Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work. Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and exterior irrigation systems. Demonstrate basic computer operation skills, including entering schedules into the air handling system and adjusting temperature settings. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure both uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain confidentiality of property information; and protect company assets. Welcome and recognize all guests according to company standards; anticipate and fulfill guest service needs; assist guests with disabilities; and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure quality expectations and standards are met. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others and support the team to achieve common goals; listen to and appropriately respond to other employees’ concerns. Communicate with others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform tasks involving movement without assistance. Climb stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above shoulder height and below knee level, including bending, twisting waist, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job-related duties as requested. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate or vocational/technical training certificate preferred. Relevant Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, preparation of interior and exterior surfaces, and painting. Hotel engineering/maintenance experience is a plus. Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.
