About **Quebrada Blanca**
Quebrada Blanca (QB) is located in the Tarapacá Region in northern Chile at an altitude of 4\.400 meters, approximately 240 kilometers southeast of the city of Iquique and 1\.500 kilometers from Santiago. Teck holds an indirect 60% interest in the mine. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation jointly hold an indirect 30% interest.

Reporting to the Komatsu LPP Supervisor, the **Maintenance Mine Welder III** will be responsible for performing welding and structural repair activities on equipment and facilities within the Maintenance Mine area, conducting technical inspections, generating records, and ensuring operational continuity, while guaranteeing compliance with HSEC standards and contributing to the organization and optimization of maintenance processes.
The position will be based at the Quebrada Blanca site, located in the Tarapacá Region at 4\.400 meters above sea level, operating on a 7x7 shift system.
**Key Responsibilities**
---------------------------------
* Be a courageous safety leader; comply with and champion safety and environmental rules, regulations, critical controls, and procedures.
* Read and interpret technical drawings to perform welding tasks.
* Perform welding and cutting activities on equipment and facilities within the Maintenance Mine area, supporting their maintenance and operational continuity.
* Execute structural repair maintenance (e.g., trucks, loaders, shovels, drills, earthmoving equipment, etc.) according to work orders scheduled by the planner.
* Conduct structural inspections of equipment, identifying defects through visual inspection or non-destructive testing, and recording details in the system or logbook as appropriate.
* Perform assessments and create backlog items.
* Maintain orderly facilities by performing housekeeping after welding and equipment maintenance activities in the workshop.
* Identify hazards in the workshop and welding processes, ensuring compliance with critical health, safety, and environmental (HSEC) controls.
* Perform GTAW, FCAW, and MIG/MAG (GMAW) welding activities.
* Operate workshop trucks on site or within the mine.
**Requirements**
--------------
* Technical, higher education, or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mining.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance.
* Class B, D, and A4 driver’s license (mandatory).
* Availability to work regular 7x7 shifts at the Quebrada Blanca site.
* Knowledge of materials technology, joining techniques, and component repair.
* Industrial Welding Techniques: Proficiency in GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) for high-precision work.
* Knowledge and application of SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), MIG/MAG, and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
* Material cutting and preparation using oxy-fuel, plasma, and angle grinders.
* Application of structural welding on high-strength steel and mining equipment components.
* Component alignment and assembly using precise welding and cutting.
* Magnetic particle non-destructive testing (NDT).
* Reading and interpretation of structural steel drawings, component diagrams, and welding specifications.
* AWS welding symbols and technical procedures.
* Application of welding safety standards (NFPA 51B, ANSI Z49\.1\)
* Use of welding-specific personal protective equipment (PPE) (welding helmet, gloves, respiratory protection)
* Care and calibration of welding machines, plasma cutters, and precision tools
* Company HSEC regulations
* Certifications for 4G, 6G, MIG/TIG, and SMAW
