Reporting to the Maintenance Workshop Supervisor, the **Mechanical Technician II – Maintenance Workshop** will be responsible for performing guided mechanical repairs and minor component replacements on mining equipment, ensuring operational continuity through compliance with HSEC standards, risk identification, and efficient work order management — with a focus on continuous improvement and operational support. This position will be based at the Quebrada Blanca site, located in the Tarapacá Region at 4\.400 meters above sea level, operating on a 7x7 shift system. **Key Responsibilities** --------------------------------- * Be a courageous safety leader, complying with and championing safety and environmental rules, regulations, critical controls, and procedures. * Perform guided mechanical repairs and minor component replacements, following procedures and guidance from experienced technicians and/or shift supervisors. * Participate in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to ensure equipment operational continuity. * Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with HSEC standards, guaranteeing the safety of personnel, equipment, and processes. * Identify and report operational risks, contributing to continuous improvement in occupational health and safety processes. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, proposing ideas to support the development of maintenance and reliability plans, escalating optimization opportunities. * Create and manage work orders in the Maximo system, ensuring timely recording and closure of tasks. * Operate auxiliary and service equipment for maintenance tasks (e.g., manlift, forklift, boom truck, among others). **Requirements** -------------- * Higher Technical or University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mining Engineering. * Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance, equipment handling, and electrical systems within the mining or industrial sector. * Class B driver’s license (mandatory) * Class D driver’s license (desirable) * Availability to work regular 7x7 shifts at the Quebrada Blanca site. * Basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel engine systems. * Basic knowledge of lubrication, braking, compressor, and air systems. * Mechanical component and cable replacement and adjustment. * Experience using ERP maintenance systems (Maximo, SAP). * Basic English proficiency. * Operation of auxiliary and service equipment. **About Teck** At Teck, we value diversity.
