About the Role At Petherton Industrial Solutions SpA, we deliver engineering, maintenance, reliability, and operational support services to companies in the mining and industrial sectors. We are looking for a Senior Risk Prevention Engineer who can lead occupational safety and health management across our operations and projects located in Calama and surrounding areas. The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing, supervising, and strengthening the company’s risk prevention standards. They will work directly with operations, maintenance, engineering teams, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with internal procedures and current Chilean regulations. This position requires on-site presence, leadership capability, and technical judgment to identify risks, propose control measures, and ensure activities are executed safely. Main Responsibilities Occupational Safety and Health Management Implement and supervise risk prevention programs across operations, projects, and industrial services. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, corporate standards, and client-mandated requirements. Update hazard identification and risk assessment matrices according to executed activities. Field Inspections and Control Conduct periodic inspections at worksites, facilities, workshops, and operational areas. Identify unsafe conditions and actions, establishing corrective and preventive measures. Verify proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with work permits. Incident Investigation Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and high-potential events. Identify immediate and root causes using recognized investigation methodologies. Prepare technical reports and follow up on action plans derived from each investigation. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with Chilean legislation related to occupational safety and health. Maintain updated records, procedures, protocols, and documentation required for audits and regulatory inspections. Coordinate actions with administrative bodies under Law 16\.744 and other relevant entities. Training and Preventive Culture Design and deliver training sessions, safety talks, and inductions for workers and contractors. Promote a preventive culture based on early risk identification and timely reporting of unsafe conditions. Advise supervisors and managers on operational safety matters. Contractor Management Review risk prevention documentation of contractor and subcontractor companies. Verify compliance with legal requirements, accreditations, procedures, and client standards. Participate in coordination meetings and performance evaluations of contractors’ preventive practices. Audits and Continuous Improvement Participate in internal, external, and client audits. Develop improvement plans to address findings, observations, and non-conformities. Analyze accident frequency, severity, and preventive compliance indicators. Emergency Response Support the development and updating of emergency and evacuation plans. Coordinate drills and verify availability of emergency equipment. Participate in critical risk assessments and response planning for operational situations. Requirements Professional degree in Risk Prevention Engineering or equivalent discipline. Valid registration as a certified risk prevention professional. Minimum 6 years of experience in risk prevention, industrial safety, or occupational health. Proven experience in mining operations, industrial operations, maintenance, or engineering projects. Knowledge of Chilean occupational safety and health regulations. Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation. Ability to prepare technical reports, procedures, and executive presentations. Experience working with operational teams, contractors, and clients. Willingness to work on-site in Calama and conduct field visits. Availability to work rotating shifts when operational needs require. Valid Class B driver’s license. Preferred Experience Experience in mining sites or service contracts for large-scale mining. Experience in critical risk control, working at heights, confined space entry, energy isolation (lockout/tagout), and hazardous substance handling.
