About the Role.
The Bench Assistant (Open Cut) supports the delivery of high-quality, safe, and environmentally conscious bulk explosive services to customers at all times; works closely with the Blasting Supervisor or site Bench Supervisors; and performs tasks according to instructions related to loading, tying, and firing blasts.
What will you do?
Ensure safety and protection for yourself, fellow workers, customers, the public, and the environment, aiming to deliver operational services at the volume, service type, and quality specified by customer expectations.
Report all unusual incidents and accidents immediately.
Participate in daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
Complete all required training for operations, SHEC, and site-specific requirements. Maintain all personal training records aligned with Orica’s training matrix for your role.
Maintain required housekeeping standards. Notify Orica site management of any deviations in product specifications, appearance, or performance.
Assist customers in achieving their objectives and sustaining production. Perform other auxiliary tasks, including relief work at other locations, as directed by reasonable supervisor instructions, based on your level of competence.
What do you need?
At least 1 year of experience in the blasting process.
Minimum 6 months of experience as a Bench Operator (shot charger).
Valid driver’s license.
Availability to work exceptional hours.
