Finning, a strategic partner of CATERPILLAR and leader in equipment and service distribution, is searching for top talent to fulfill the role of **Technical Inspector for the Los Colorados Contract (Vallenar)**, who will be responsible for inspecting, detecting, and generating backlogs of potential defects and anomalies present in the mining contract equipment, delivering timely, accurate, and high-quality information to schedule and repair issues before failure occurs—thereby achieving fleet reliability and contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives in accordance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, standards, manufacturer protocols, client requirements, and Finning’s internal standards. **Primary Job Responsibilities:** **1\. Safety** * Stay informed about compliance with safety and environmental policies during task execution. * Ensure adherence to inspection procedures. * Participate in and/or lead identification of potential risks associated with tasks performed and interactions involved. * Participate in and execute continuous improvement activities aimed at maintaining the currency and effectiveness of HSEQ procedures. * Generate necessary documentation to support activity execution. **2\. Condition Monitoring** * Review, use, and analyze supporting documents prior to or during inspections. .Security documentation. * Hot-spot checklist. * Focused inspection checklist. * Last Pre-PM inspection report. * Last PM inspection report. * Pre-PCR inspection checklist. * Operator reports. * Updated reliability analysis. * Equipment threats. * Backlog Kardex. * Progress of major component operating hours. * Progress of minor component operating hours. * Monthly component replacement plan. * Equipment recovery plan or campaign plan. * Travel to the equipment while complying with safety and environmental regulations. * Interview the operator regarding normal equipment operation and/or detection of equipment anomalies. * Conduct operator interviews and logbook checks (validate operator reports onboard the equipment; add or downgrade conditions as appropriate). * Perform focused inspections, Pre-PM inspections, PM inspections, or Pre-PCR inspections. * Manually download ET and VIMS data if the equipment does not transmit online, to share with the fleet analyst. * Base inspections on the latest previous inspection report and migrate findings into CAT Inspect. * Conduct equipment inspections per the scheduled program, cross-referencing inspection results against the equipment’s pending backlog list (Backlog Kardex). * Perform condition monitoring activities during opportunity windows: sample collection, electronic device downloads, magnetic plug inspections, etc. * Notify the client upon equipment handover if no new abnormalities are detected after completion of the inspection. * Generate shift handover report (including random inspection audits, inspections conducted during the shift, generated backlogs, logbook review, and critical findings). * Consolidate information into an inspection report for submission to the fleet analyst and contamination control team. * Record inspections in a shared folder within the condition monitoring system. **3\. Backlog Administration Process** * Report critical findings affecting equipment health to the shift supervisor and maintenance engineering team. * If new anomalies are detected during equipment inspection, assess whether they can be repaired in the workshop and inform operations and engineering accordingly. * If repairs cannot be performed and are non-critical, notify the field supervisor and workshop to generate a backlog entry in the backlog management system. * If equipment inspection reveals that a repair cannot be performed onsite and is critical, immediately inform the field supervisor and recommend equipment shutdown. Enter relevant information into the workshop operations system. * Consolidate collected information into an inspection report to avoid duplicate data submissions. * Generate shift handover report (including random inspection audits, inspections conducted during the shift, generated backlogs, logbook review, and critical findings). * Participate in meetings with IKC personnel (condition monitoring and reliability teams) to report anomalies. * Following inspection, update the Backlog Kardex in AMT to reflect nonexistent conditions, executed backlogs, and/or duplicate backlogs. **4\. Continuous Improvement Process** * Document non-conformities related to unexecuted backlogs and unimplemented actions (AAI and APP). * Recommend/implement improvements to the condition monitoring process and related inspection documentation. **Application Requirements:** * Higher Technical Diploma or Engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, or Electromechanical disciplines. * More than 3 years’ experience in technical inspection and/or maintenance of mining equipment. * Preferably residing in Copiapó, La Serena, or Vallenar. * Demonstrable experience in technical inspection of 7495 shovels and condition monitoring under mining contracts. * Knowledge and application of client and company HSEQ policies. * Proficiency in condition monitoring strategy. * Understanding of maintenance and repair models. * Familiarity with systems and platforms: AMT (approved course for inspectors), CAT Inspect, SIS. * Ability to interpret Gantt charts and inspection schedules. * Backlog management and administration (Kardex, duplicates, statuses). * Knowledge and application of basic maintenance KPIs. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
