As a **Senior Software Engineer** at Checkr, you’ll work on high-impact engineering projects that help build a more just future for everyone. Checkr is looking for a senior software engineer with experience to join the **Enterprise** team, working on building integrations for Applicant Tracking Systems (**ATS**). Our team’s mission is to deliver the most accurate and comprehensive criminal background checks in the industry for customers worldwide. We are hiring for a team focused on unifying the experiences we offer across all of Checkr’s background check evaluation products for our U.S. and international customers, providing common platform capabilities to other Checkr teams. Our team will be split into **70% backend work and 30% frontend work**. As a senior engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in solution architecture. ### **What You’ll Do:** * Learn about ATS systems and international laws governing background checks—and how we comply with them at Checkr. These rules vary significantly by country, but our platform must support them all: this team focuses on building well-architected and well-scoped platform capabilities for other Checkr teams to use. * Teams building specific background check evaluation products are the primary customers of this team! * This role will help unify their code (backend \+ frontend) and user experience (UX) across these evaluations organization-wide, so our customers receive the same excellence in functionality regardless of where in the world they’re hiring. * Collaborate with **Staff Engineers** and leadership to design appropriate solutions and execution plans to realize our platform vision. * Communicate with internal and external developers to build solutions that improve their productivity. ### **What You Bring:** * 7+ years of **full\-stack** software development experience. * A strong sense of ownership. * Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages, preferably **Ruby and Javascript (React.js)**. **Must-haves:** * Fluency in **English**: You report to your manager in the U.S., and technical interviews are conducted by U.S. teams. * Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, such as relational databases, data structures and algorithms, Object-Relational Mapping (**ORM**), and **REST APIs**. * Strong development practices using **Test Driven Development (TDD)**, **Domain Driven Design (DDD)**, and functional and object-oriented programming. * Experience with microservices (and patterns like **Event Sourcing** or **API Gateways**). * Experience with event-driven architectures (**Event Driven Architectures**) using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS. * **A player mindset with a strong bias toward action:** You raise the bar, move with urgency, remain resilient amid ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful results. **Nice-to-haves:** * Experience with observability (using tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Splunk). * Experience in **AI** (Artificial Intelligence). * Curiosity about delivering clean, robust, and scalable code. * Understanding of how to build reliable distributed systems and ability to deeply discuss their trade\-offs. * Excellent communication skills and ability to drive alignment among groups with varying levels of technical expertise. ### **What You’ll Get** * A collaborative and dynamic environment. * Hybrid work model: 3 days per week in the office located in the Costanera building, near Tobalaba metro station. * Lunch provided in the office. * Opportunity to be part of an international company headquartered in the United States. * **Annual $3,000 USD bonus** for certifications, courses, learning, and professional development. * Competitive compensation and opportunities for professional and personal advancement. * **100% health, life, and dental coverage** for employees and dependents. * Additional vacation benefits (**5 extra days**) and flexibility to take time off. * RSU **What you get** * A collaborative and fast\-moving environment * Be part of an international company based in the United States * Learning and development reimbursement allowance * Competitive compensation and opportunity for professional and personal advancement * 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents * Additional vacation benefits of 5 extra days and flexibility to take time off *At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection.
