INTERNAL–EXTERNAL COMPETITION Academic Position – Specializations in Textile and Apparel Design / Industrial Design: Research and Development PART-TIME REGULAR POSITION. 1. Position Description The School of Design, Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design, Universidad Diego Portales, is opening a competition to hire a part-time regular academic (22 hours per week) to join the specializations in Textile and Apparel Design and/or Industrial Design, depending on the applicant’s profile and expertise. The position entails teaching, research, innovation, creative practice, curriculum development, and academic outreach. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to strengthening these specializations by supporting course design and implementation, demonstrating pedagogical leadership, managerial capacity, collaborative teamwork, and commitment to academic excellence. In addition, particular value will be placed on the applicant’s international projection and articulation—evidenced through academic or professional networks, collaborations, dissemination of work or projects, or participation in global platforms related to design, research, or innovation. For Textile and Apparel Design, experience in textile technologies, cultural studies, material practices, and design methodologies applied to fashion–textiles will be valued. For Industrial Design, experience in product development, industrial processes, prototyping, materials, technologies, and design methodologies oriented toward innovation will be valued. 2. Key Responsibilities * Deliver undergraduate teaching, preferably in project-based or theoretical courses within the specialization. * Participate in the design, development, and implementation of the academic program. * Advance research lines relevant to the disciplinary area. * Participate in collegiate bodies, academic committees, and institutional activities. * Collaborate with teaching teams to foster a culture of dialogue, inclusion, and excellence. * Lead and manage educational processes in coordination with faculty members of the specialization. 3. Application Requirements **Minimum Requirements:** * Professional degree and academic master’s or doctoral degree in design or related fields. * Minimum five years of professional and/or academic experience. * Demonstrated research, innovation, and creative practice with verifiable outputs (publications, projects, grants). * Experience in university-level teaching. * Leadership skills in academic settings, teamwork ability, and personnel management capacity. * Proficiency in English is desirable. **Additional Assets:** * Participation in academic and professional networks, especially those with international reach. * Portfolio of projects or research with international circulation, recognition, or collaboration. * Experience in interdisciplinary projects and outreach activities with external stakeholders. * Experience in textile technologies, cultural studies, or other areas related to apparel. For Industrial Design, experience in product development, industrial processes, prototyping, materials, technologies, and design methodologies oriented toward innovation will be valued. * Training or experience in curriculum development. 4.
