Recognized globally as the benchmark for quality and integrity, SGS employs over 93,000 people and operates a network of more than 2,600 offices and laboratories worldwide. **Job Description** Project Type: Stand-Alone BESS Location: La Serena, Coquimbo Estimated Duration: 5 months (June – October 2026) **Job Objective** To supervise, inspect, and control on-site the proper execution of civil, electrical, and installation works associated with the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), ensuring compliance with technical, contractual, quality, and basic safety requirements, as well as validating physical progress for payment certifications. **Project Scope** The project involves constructing a stand-alone BESS system comprising: * + 14 lithium-ion battery containers (6.25 MWh each) + Total capacity: 16.4 MW / 82 MWh (5 hours) + 3 transformer substations with PCS inverters (112 units of 215 kW each) + Medium-voltage connection (23 kV) to Central Las Piedras Substation **Main Responsibilities** **Technical Supervision** * + Inspect correct execution of: * o Civil works (foundations, conduits, platforms) * o Electromechanical installation (containers, PCS, transformers) * o Medium- and low-voltage electrical installations * + Verify compliance with drawings, technical specifications, and applicable regulations. + Identify deviations and promptly raise technical observations. Progress Control and Payment Certifications * + Validate physical progress of works on site. + Review and support contractor’s payment certifications. + Provide technical support for quantifying progress. Document Management * + Monthly review of personnel documentation on site. + Control relevant technical documentation (protocols, reports, “as-built” drawings). + Submit periodic progress reports to the client. Coordination * + Coordinate with contractors, the client, and other project stakeholders. + Participate in site meetings and progress reviews. Safety (Basic Level Expected) * Verify compliance with basic safety conditions: * Use of PPE * Site order and cleanliness * Raise deviations (does not act as a safety officer). **Key Responsibilities** * + Ensure technical construction quality. + Validate progress for contractual and financial purposes. + Maintain full project documentation traceability. + Ensure minimum on-site safety standards are met. **Requirements** **Education** * Civil Electrical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Executive Engineer, or related degree. **Experience** * + Minimum 5 years of technical inspection experience in electrical construction projects. * Energy projects (preferably renewable) * Substations or medium-voltage systems * Desired experience in BESS or photovoltaic plants **Technical Knowledge** * + Power electrical systems (MV/LV) + Installation of electrical equipment (transformers, inverters, switchgear) + Chilean electrical regulations + Reading and interpretation of electrical and civil drawings + Quality control in construction works **Desirable** * + Experience with BESS systems + Knowledge of PCS and energy storage system integration + Proficiency in construction management software (Excel, Project, etc.) **Additional Information** **Job Conditions** * Full-time on-site presence (100%) * 5x2 work schedule with possible overtime **Competency Profile** * Strong technical judgment * Proactivity and autonomy on site
