Checkr serves over 100,000 customers, including DoorDash, Coinbase, Lyft, Instacart, and Airtable. **About the Role** As a semi-senior Software Engineer at Checkr, you will play a critical role in advancing our product toward our mission of building the data platform of the future. Throughout the product development lifecycle, you will collaborate with other engineers and product counterparts to design and deliver new platform capabilities and key product initiatives. Your passion for technical excellence will drive progress in modernizing our technical stack, simplifying system architecture, and automating manual workflows to ensure scalability and efficiency of our platform. **What You’ll Do:** * Develop new platform capabilities and product offerings—from design through launch. * Balance time-to-market speed with long-term growth by designing with foresight and building for today. * Collaborate with the Product team to define appropriately scoped initiatives and craft a roadmap that meets business needs quarter after quarter. * Preserve customer goodwill by ensuring system availability, participating in on-call rotations, responding to support requests, and taking proactive measures to improve reliability. * Provide guidance to engineers across your team and the broader organization. * Actively contribute to continuous improvement of the engineering organization through lunch-and-learn sessions, team presentations, and leadership reviews. What You’ll Bring: * **Advanced English proficiency** (mandatory requirement). * +3 years of backend software development experience with strong expertise in **Ruby** (preferred), **Golang**, or **JavaScript/TypeScript**. * Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including relational and non-relational databases, data structures, algorithms, and REST APIs. * Experience in domain modeling, object-oriented design, and systems architecture. * Demonstrated ability to write clear, tested, and concise code. * Ability to set expectations and make informed decisions using project estimations based on available information. * Competence in writing and reviewing technical proposals, providing constructive feedback, and articulating trade-offs. * Strong sense of ownership across all aspects of the development lifecycle—including incident response and responsibility for product robustness. * Desire to collaborate and share knowledge with peers both within your team and across the organization. * Enthusiasm for learning, improving, and innovating in a dynamic and collaborative environment. * Availability to work in a **hybrid model** at our office in **Santiago**: 3 days in-office and 2 days remote. * A high-performance mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, act with urgency, maintain resilience amid uncertainty, and take ownership to deliver meaningful results. **What We Offer** * A fast-paced and collaborative environment * Learning and development allowance * Competitive cash and equity compensation, and opportunity for advancement * 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage * Up to $25K reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services * Flexible PTO policy * Monthly wellness stipend *At Checkr, we believe an in-office work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection.
