As a **Staff Reliability Engineer**, you will play a crucial role in improving the reliability of our products as we pursue our mission to build the future's data platform. The person in this role will identify engineering challenges across the organization and its services, lead the development of innovative solutions to address them, and drive their adoption. This job is available on Get on Board. ### **Job functions** * Collaborate and lead architecture discussions with a broad range of stakeholders, including operations, developers, technical architects, and executives. * Lead reliability roadmap planning and cross-team project execution to facilitate engineering efforts and support Checkr's customers. * Proactively engage across all teams to promote service reliability, efficiency, and scalability. * Participate in an inter-organizational incident response team, driving continuous improvement. * Solve complex production issues across the stack related to performance, availability, and data quality. * Design, build, ship, and maintain core observability libraries, tools, and patterns used by all Checkr engineering teams. ### **Qualifications and requirements** * Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, including more than 5 years focused on system reliability, scalability, and efficiency. * Strong proficiency in developing solutions using Python (preferred), GoLang, or Ruby in Linux environments. * Deep understanding of fundamental infrastructure and platform concepts underpinning microservices architectures, asynchronous systems, and remote APIs. * Strong collaboration, documentation, communication, and project management skills. * Competence in developing and operating customer-facing production environments on AWS or Azure using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform. * Demonstrated ability to establish service observability standards and leverage platforms and frameworks like Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry. * Proven experience improving incident management practices and driving continuous improvement. * Leadership skills and passion for mentoring junior engineers. * Experience driving platform adoption within engineering teams through a self-service, product-first approach. ### **Conditions** * A collaborative and fast-paced working environment * Being part of a U.S.-based international company * Learning and development reimbursement allowance * Competitive compensation and opportunities for professional and personal growth * 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents * Additional 5 days of vacation and flexibility to take time off * Equipment reimbursement for remote work At Checkr, we believe that a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and fosters connection.
