Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an Operations Research Analyst to build and evolve robust mathematical models that drive the heavy industry forward and define the analytical strategy.
Key Highlights:
1. You will define the analytical strategy, not just process numbers
2. You will have direct input into strategic project decisions
3. Support to keep your analytical and technical skills sharp
About the Role: Antofagasta is an industrial innovation hub, and at IJAOS Analytics \& Optimization SpA, we apply that same standard to advanced data science. We build robust, enterprise-grade mathematical models that propel the heavy industry forward. We believe operations research need not be dry or purely theoretical. We seek an Operations Research Analyst who can take ownership of our core optimization engines. You will not merely process numbers; you will define the analytical strategy. You will work side-by-side with a talented team of engineers, bridging complex mathematical algorithms and practical, high-impact business solutions. You will be the champion of data-driven decision-making in a room full of stakeholders.
Why Work With Us? The Environment: Our office is located in the heart of Antofagasta. We value a collaborative workspace that inspires problem-solving, modern infrastructure, and an energetic team culture. Technical Maturity: We don’t need you to convince us that optimization matters—we already know it. You will have direct input into strategic project decisions from day one. Modern Stack: We work exclusively with industry-standard optimization libraries and modern programming environments. Our technical team uses Python, R, and advanced simulation tools—so we speak your language. Growth: You will have resources and support to keep your analytical and technical skills sharp.
Key Responsibilities: Model Ownership: Maintain and evolve our optimization models and simulation algorithms. Ensure mathematical consistency and rigor across all client projects. End-to-End Analysis: Lead the process from initial problem formulation and data discovery through solution implementation and validation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside engineering, project management, and client teams to translate operational challenges into quantitative frameworks. Data Validation: Don’t guess—validate your assumptions with rigorous data analysis and simulation testing before implementing solutions. Stakeholder Management: Present your analytical findings and strategic recommendations to clients and management. You know how to explain the business value of your models—not just the mathematics behind them.
What We’re Looking For: Experience: Proven background in operations research, industrial engineering, or a related quantitative field, with strong hands-on modeling experience. Portfolio / Project History: A solid track record of successful optimization projects is non-negotiable. Show us the operational problem, the analytical process, and the measurable solution. Tools: Proficiency in mathematical programming or optimization software (e.g., Python, R, GAMS, CPLEX, SQL). Language Skills: Spanish (C1/native) is required for client workshops and local operations. English (B2/C1\) is an advantage for technical documentation. Mindset: You are pragmatic. You know when to build a comprehensive model and when to deliver a viable prototype.
Salary: $1\.800\.000 \- $2\.500\.000 per month
Work Location: Hybrid in Antofagasta, Antofagasta
